Unity Coalition|Coalición Unida Celebrates its 10th Anniversary with Renewed Energy & Plans for Leaders,
Legends & Lovelies Event and Celebrate ORGULLO Festival, and much more for 2012

January 26, 2012… Miami, Florida – With the New Year comes the Tenth Anniversary of Unity Coalition|Coalición Unida (UC|CU), a Florida non-
profit whose focus is the Leadership, Protection & Promotion of Latino|Hispanic LGBTQ rights (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, questioning)
- The only organization of its kind in South Florida since 2002, and many new goals, programs and plans for the future.
The first major event for UC|CU in 2012 will be the 3rd Annual
LEADERS, LEGENDS & LOVELIES Lectures, Exhibits and Legends Ball, which
celebrates the good, positive & outstanding within our LGBT community.  This year's theme for the Leaders, Legends & Lovelies (LL&L) events is
Fabulous Florida Fashion.  As part of their museum-quality exhibit & Lecture Series UC|CU will feature several prominent designers and their
work - exhibit renderings, works in progress, amazing gowns, accessories, etc. The
Legends Ball will take place on Thursday, April 12th at the Art
Deco Welcome Center in Miami Beach.  Also on the schedule are the UC|CU lectures and interviews at the LL&L Exhibit on Sunday, April 15th in
front of an audience during Miami Beach Gay PRIDE.
There are several training & community workshops planned for 2012, including the UC|CU State of Hate Workshop series, Community
Leadership workshops, as well as ongoing advocacy and community support programs such as the International Latino|Hispanic LGBT
Community Resource Center, providing thousands of resources online at unitycoalition.org.
Established in 2002 to help educate and empower the Latino|Hispanic voters of Miami-Dade about the then-impending overturning of the
Human Rights ordinance, UC|CU translated informational materials into Spanish, organized volunteers, hit the streets, went door to door, and
successfully regained 13 polling places to victory – districts and neighborhoods long considered anti-gay rights, and helped keep our rights in
the Miami-Dade law books.
Looking to October, Unity Coalition|Coalición Unida is honored and proud to present the 2nd Annual
Celebrate ORGULLO Festival on the
sands of Miami Beach, October 3-6, 2012.  Celebrate ORGULLO highlights, showcases and supports the cultural contributions of the Hispanic
LGBT community with a multitude of booths; a huge performance stage with international talent; a community Conga Line; National LGBT
Leaders Summit, and much more – It all starts on the sand at 11th Street & Ocean Drive. The event is free and open to the public and a portion of
the proceeds from the sale of food and beverages will benefit our LGBT Youth Scholarship Fund and year round programming of the Unity
Coalition|Coalicion Unida, Inc.  This year ORGULLO has also teamed up with RISE Cruises to present the ORGULLO Cruise, a 4 day Caribbean
adventure on the high seas.

Unity Coalition|Coalición Unida offers many great and rewarding volunteer opportunities throughout the year.  Get involved today by contacting
