UNITY COALITION|COALICIÓN UNIDA TO LAUNCH ARTLAB@PRIDELINES, CURATING WORKS BY LOCAL AND
INT’L. ARTISTS, EXHIBITS & EVENTS OF TRANS EXPERIENCE, YEAR ROUND AT PRIDELINES COMMUNITY
CENTER AND ART GALLERY
Miami, Florida…January 2020 – In efforts to nurture and give dedicated space to LGBTQ artists everywhere and furthering the bond and alliance between
LGBT non-profits in South Florida, Unity Coalition|Coalición Unida (UC|CU) and Pridelines, Miami-Dade County’s LGBTQ Community Center have created an
exciting new opportunity for the community. As of January 2020, the Gallery A at Pridelines LGBT Community Center, located at 6360 NE 4th Ct, Miami, FL
33138, will be transformed into the ARTLab@Pridelines, curated and managed by UC|CU, to highlight local, national and international artists of Trans
experience by featuring their works year round, free and open to the public.
“Pridelines has been featuring the works of Queer artists throughout our gallery walls since we opened our flagship Center in Miami in June of 2016. In doing
so, we have worked with Community Partners, more so with Unity Coalition|Coalición Unida which has hosted elements of their annual TRANSART events at
our Center for several years. For this reason, we are excited to embark on this new partnership with the team at Unity Coalition|Coalición Unida within our
Gallery A, that will complement the ongoing exhibits of Queer artists throughout our Miami Center and Gallery– creating one of South Florida’s only year round
spaces for LGBTQ artists and their work.” said Pridelines Chief Executive Officer, Victor Diaz-Herman.
The nearly 600sq ft gallery space boasts double height ceilings, an open floorplan, and plenty of space to create, explore, consider and appreciate art.
Pridelines Miami is open to all Monday through Friday, noon-8pm, and Saturdays, noon-5pm.
“This is a wonderful opportunity and partnership, and Unity Coalition|Coalición Unida could not be happier to grow our ongoing commitment to the Pridelines
Center of bringing ARTLab and world class works by LGBTQ artists from around the corner or across the globe, to the South Florida community. We will
officially kick off this endeavor with our 6th annual TRANSART Artists Showcase and conference in late January 2020. Artists CANDICE KROL, JAYDEN
VIEIRA and TANYA MAI RANDSTOFT will be featured, along with Poetry & Spoken Word by ELIJAH AVERETT-BALSER and others.” added Unity
Coalition|Coalición Unida’s Executive Director and founder, Herb Sosa.

I have been painting since 2006, specializing in figurative, abstract and landscape
work. Much of my work is on found wood from construction waste. I have also
developed a niche type of work that I call “Paintcatchers”. These works develop through
my use of left over paint on my palette being applied to random boards. This process
on these types of paintings, sometimes evolves over years until a work is finished.
My work has been shown in numerous cities including, Santa Fe, Denver, Miami and
Los Angeles. I am currently represented by Esperanza Art, a gallery in Marfa, Texas.

I use narrative, historical art references, fantastical elements of costumes and
autobiography to depict taboo intimacies between women —acknowledging and
emphasizing the female gaze. My work consists of large paintings, photographs and
monotypes created over the past two years. I construct intimate moments in my
photographs and create narrative portraits of lesbian relationships.
